The purpose of this party is to demonstrate how effective essential oils can be and to introduce new folks to a unique fun way to enjoy Young Living oils.
Send out invitations to a group of people who are not members of YL. (Send enough so that the group attending will be 12 to 15 people). Invitations should reflect fun, learning, natural ways to improve health, the latest style in aromatherapy jewelry, and healing with oils enhanced by the energy of wood. Depending on the season it can also be an introduction to unique gifts. Spring and Summer are a great times to buy oils and pendants for vacation since there are so many ways to use oils when traveling.
Pendants make great gifts for teachers, door prizes for health fairs, and drawings where the objective is to collect contact information. I was recently asked for a donation of a door prize for a chamber of commerce meeting. I donated a Zest Lady Aroma Pendant™ diffuser with a 1 ml bottle of oil in an organdy gift bag. The recipient immediately called me to ask where she could get more oil for her pendant.
Charge $10 to give the attendants a feeling of value for what they will learn and to cover the costs of simple refreshments, handouts, oils, partial cost of pendants, and YOUR TIME.
1) First pass out an evaluation sheet (see below). Have everyone fill out the BEFORE OILS section.
2) Then invite everyone to select a pendant. Have a variety on hand so that everyone can choose a wood that appeals to them. You will learn a lot about the personality of people from their wood choices and comments. PAY ATTENTION, because this will give you a key as to how to approach them later when you want to close on a sale (or distributor sign-up). Observe a problem and provide a solution!
3) Have everyone remove the cotton wick from the pendant and put several drops of oil on it. The aroma will be pretty strong even with just a few drops, but the pendant will not leak even if they saturate the wick by dipping it in a bottle of oil. Help them select the oil by having them tell you which item on the evaluation sheet had the lowest rating. The top of the pendant has a threaded screw cap so this should go pretty quickly and easily.
4) Do a basic introduction to oils presentation or show a video that will last approximately a half hour to forty-five minutes.
5) Have a 15 minute question and answer period. The object is to have each person wear the pendant with the oil for at least an hour. The 12 diffuser vents in the pendant chamber create a vaporizing action that releases the oil molecules from the cotton wick.
6) After the hour has passed have them fill out the AFTER OILS section.
7) Give everyone a chance to “share” a little about which items on their sheet improved. This is also a good time to present oil/diffuser pendant testimonials. Check the Testimonials page on this site for updates. Here is a sample:

8) Pass around order forms so that people have an opportunity to order oils or sign up as a distributor. Offer to let them keep the pendant free of charge if they sign up as a distributor and make the qualifying purchase. If they just want to order an oil as a customer, let them have the pendant for $5. (The pendant cost you $15 wholesale so this $5 and $5 from the admission fee reimburses you two thirds the cost of the pendant.) You just got a new customer for $5 which is a lot less than it would cost if you got them through an advertisement. If they return the pendant to you, you can give it to someone else with a new cord (extras are 50 cents each).
9) Ask the group for referrals.........people they would like to see invited to the next Wear and Share Party. Also, give them a form that they can use to submit testimonials that you can use at future parties.

This party is a good way to reach a group of people, but I have signed up many people by wearing a Whiffer™. Clerks in stores and other people I’ve met on errand day admired the pendant which started a conversation about it’s purpose. Many people who were not familiar with oils, wanted to buy a pendant and then inquired about what oils would be good for them to wear. Clearly they were attracted by the pendant and we would not have had the conversation about oils without it.
A pendant display on a table at an expo or health fair is an excellent way to attract customers to your booth. The most successful expo I’ve had is one where I offered pendants with 5ml bottles of oil taken from Essential 7 Kits™. The beauty of the wood is a great “eye-catcher” in a room full of exhibitors competing for the attention of attendees.
